The Committee

Kate Hendrick - President

Kate Hendrick - President photoKate began playing softball in 2002 and got to be captain in 2003 when nobody else wanted to do it, at the same time the team became the Coyotes; there followed a remarkable slump in performance.

In 2003, someone let her play for the Terriers at the Manchester tournament.  The apocalyptic shortage of female players means she has been able to play tournaments every year since then.

Kate’s officious nature, talent for obsessive record keeping and an abnormal desire to organise made her an ideal candidate for Secretary during the 2005 Reformation of the Leeds Softball League.  At the end of the 2008 season she somehow became President.  Kate is a BASU C-Grade qualified umpire, possibly the quietest one in the world.

Kate can be approached about anything softball related but be warned, she is more likely to approach you!

Adam Moger - Vice President Operations & Div 1 Rep

Adam has been involved with Leeds softball for a number of years, latterly as captain of 2008 league winners "Castaways".

As Division One Rep, he is always happy to discuss any issues new or existing first division teams may have, including any items to bring up at league meetings.  He can usually be found in The Lawnswood after matches on Tuesdays, often first in line at the chips table.

Paul Ellingham - Treasurer

Paul Ellingham - Treasurer photo

I've been involved in softball in Leeds for about 2 years now.  I haven't let my inexperience stop me, but have leapt at every opportunity to get involved.  This is the reason that I am the treasurer (looking after all your money!) and that I am playing tournaments; I simply said "yes, I'll help" and "sounds brilliant" respectively.

I'm a member of the Coyotes (a team generally saved from relegation by 'default', but not this year!) and I love our weekly games followed by a good post-game drink and ridiculous-sized "sharing" dessert.  I also really enjoy the tournaments; they're a fantastic way to improve your game.  For those who have seen me play, yes, I was even worse at one point!

If you see me in the pub, I'll be the one talking nonsense out of my beard and failing to help my friends win the pub quiz.

Melissa Molles - Social Secretary

Melissa Molles - Social Secretary PhotoMelissa plays for division 1 Chapel Allerton and is the Social Secretary for 2010.  She is the best person to approach with any ideas for fun and knows all the secrets of the end of season ball!

Matt Ng - Communications Officer

Matt Ng Communications OfficerMatt started playing softball in the 2009 season, garnering a passion for the sport which led to him being made captain of corporate side SDG, a team which prided themselves on the fact that not one player actually worked at SDG.

Matt is now captain of Diamond Knights, a newly formed team for the 2010 season, bringing onboard several brand new players who share his enthusiasm for softball. Matt and his players dominate attendance at training sessions, so there’s always a good Knight around when you need one.

As Communications Officer, Matt’s job is to raise awareness of the sport and promote the LSA through marketing and various media channels.

Outside of softball, he works as a magazine Editor, is a bit of a movie buff, and really enjoys a good steak.

Leroy Sanford - League Development Officer

Leroy Sanford - League Development Officer

Leroy started playing in 2007 as the founding captain of Dynamite. As captain of Dynamite Leroy was responsible for the first regular Leeds League team to attend a tournament and has tried to maintain this with Dynamite appearing at Diamond Series, Leeds, Manchester and East Midlands Labor Day Cup in 2009 season.

Leroy is the current captain of the Dynamite second team (FireCrackers - founded in 2009).

As former vice-president and div 2 rep Leroy has spent most of his softballing career attached to the comittee and continues this comittement to the improvement of the sport in Leeds as League Development officer.
